Summer 2008 Bulletin
Summer 2008 Poster
What Are You Doing This Summer?

Registration for Summer 2008 will open on Monday, March 10. I am attaching the poster that is also posted on the VC Web site. It lists all courses available during the summer session as well as listing the new tuition ($250 / $200 for students eligible for free lunch) and important dates.

  1. We expect enrollment to increase substantially since our tuition is only $25 more than the traditional Summer School price. Please keep these things in mind when registering a student:
We only have one session. Students needing full year courses will have to take both semesters at the same time. Students needing Geometry, Algebra I or II, and Biology do not need take these semesters at the same time since the content of the second semester is based upon the content of the first semester. Call me if you need assistance with this.
  2. Personal Fitness will close out early. It always does. We only have four sections that will be available. Classes will range from 20-25 students.
  3. There is no mandatory face-to-face orientation and final exams except for Personal Fitness. Health has two face-to-face sessions also.
    - Personal Fitness – May 31, 9:00 – 11:00, Centennial HS and July 16, location and times TBA
    - Health – June 4, CPR Class and Test, 1:00 – 5:00, Holcomb Bridge MS and June 5, ADAP, 1:00 – 4:30, Holcomb Bridge MS
  4. EOCT students must take the EOCT at one of the traditional Summer School sites on July 11.
  5. We will need the GTIDs for students taking courses that require an EOCT.
  6. For time of day, please indicate 5:00 or summer.
  7. We will need full contact information for students and parents. You and your staff will not be available for us to call if we need more information during the semester.
  8. Students taking the following courses will need to pick up their textbooks from either Banneker HS or Chattahoochee HS on June 3, 4, or 5. They will need to return their textbooks on July 17 or 18.
  9. Our registration closes on Monday, June 2, which is the first day of the traditional summer school. We try to accommodate any student whose traditional summer school class did not make.
  10. Students need to make tuition payments within 24 hours of registration.

Registration for Spring Mini-Mester continues until March 17. Those courses begin on March 22. There is no face-to-face session. All three classes will make. Please make sure to register any student who needs these classes to graduate.

When you go in to register students, you will have a choice between Spring Mini-Mester 2008 and Summer 2008. Please choose the correct semester.

CAPs and Head Counselors will receive some items from the Print Shop within a couple of weeks. There will be posters of Summer08Poster.pdf and What are you doing this summer.doc (attached to this e-mail) and copies of the summ08bulletin.pub (also attached to this e-mail). Please place these posters in strategic locations in your school. The bulletins may be handed to interested students.
