Talented and Gifted Program . . . TAG is a multi-criterion based gifted enrichment program designed to offer students access to specialty seminars, subject-area extensions, independent study, and off-campus study. An internship component provides hands-on experience and insight into a variety of career options. Participants explore areas of interest that are particular to them as individuals that are not part of the regular classroom curriculum and have an opportunity to learn in ways that are unique to each student.
Services for Exceptional Children . . . Students with mild-moderate learning disabilities, behavioral disabilities, and other mental impairments may be served through this program. Services include team-taught classes, self-contained instruction, and monitoring services.
The Latest Classroom Technology . . . Over 700 PC's and faculty notebooks, classroom sets of laptops, digital copiers, a broadcast studio, and a digital security surveillance system provide students and faculty with the most recent technology available. Extensive use of wireless systems can be found throughout the building. Parents may access student information including grades, attendance, and discipline via the Internet through the ParentConnect program. Northview's website, www.northviewhigh.com, provides daily announcements, calendar events, school information, academic resources, and email communication to all staff members.
State of the Art Facilities . . .The building, totaling 270,800 square feet, provides sixty standard classrooms, thirty-six laboratories, Counseling Center, nine departmental workrooms, specialized fine arts and technology instructional areas, and physical education facilities. Indoor facilities feature an auditorium, two gymnasiums, weight training, sports medicine, and fitness rooms, food court, media center, and commons/courtyard area. The seventy-three acre Northview campus includes an outdoor classroom, stocked lake, synthetic turf stadium, tennis courts, and irrigated baseball, softball, and practice fields. In 2004, the community initiated and funded a capitol improvements program to provide a Junior Titans football field house, indoor baseball/softball batting facilities, and wrestling building.
