It is hard to believe that the holidays are upon us. Final exams are around the corner and second semester will begin shortly thereafter – where has the year gone? With a little more than two weeks remaining before exams, some students may be looking for opportunities to recover a failing grade. As it is stated in the handbook:

 

Opportunities for students to recover from a low/failing cumulative grade will be provided when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements.Students who have not attempted to complete all course requirements are not eligible for recovery.

 

Students must contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities at the time his/her grade falls below 74. Recovery work must be completed within ten school days prior to the end of the semester. The nature and type of recovery assignment is given at the discretion of the teacher.

 

As you make your holiday plans, please remember our policy for final exams. No exams will be given early. If for some reason your student will be absent on the day of an exam, he/she can make it up on January 4th, a teacher workday, or within the first week of the new semester. The testing schedule is as follows:

 

Thursday, December 10th Major tests may be given in Math, Science and all others
Friday, December 11th Major tests may be given in Language Arts, World Languages, Social Studies
Monday and Tuesday Review – No testing!
Wednesday, December 16th Final exams for periods 1 and 2
Thursday, December 17th Final exams for periods 3 and 4
Friday, December 18th Final exams for periods 5 and 6

 

The school and all school system offices will be closed November 25 – 27 for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Drive Smart

Drive Smart will be shown December 4, 2009 at 7:30 am and January 4, 2010 at 10:00 am. Drive Smart is required to park on campus or in the church lot.

Parking for Second Semester

Due to new County guidelines, attendance requirements will be suspended this semester. All students that submit a completed parking application will be listed for the lottery.    

Students who have had ISS or OSS disciplinary actions during the 2009 fall semester will have their name removed from the lottery list and do not qualify for parking in the spring.   

Students involved in CBE, internship and/or other programs which allow them to leave campus early will be assigned a parking space in the bus area. These names will then be removed from the lottery list. 

Students’ names will be drawn by an appointed committee to determine the parking space.  The first name that is drawn will be assigned to space #1 and so on until the allotted spaces are full. 

70% of the senior names will be drawn first and assigned a space. After that, 30% of the Junior names will be drawn and parking spaces in the junior lot will be filled.  Any remaining spaces will be filled by pulling names of the remaining seniors and then the remaining juniors. 

Students who do NOT submit a completed parking application with attachments by Friday, December 4, 2009 will not be placed on the lottery list and will automatically go on the waiting list.
