Senior Exam Exemptions
Seniors may exempt spring semester final exams for classes in which the following criteria are met:

  • 80 or higher average without honor points and without recovery
  • no suspension, in-school or out-of-school, during entire spring semester

Students who qualify may attempt an exam but will not be penalized if results lower the final grade.  Students must obtain written teacher permission to exempt an exam prior to the day of the exam.

Withdrawal From School
A student withdrawing from school must notify his/her counselor immediately, as it is necessary that all records be brought up to date before the student leaves school.  Students withdrawing from school should have a parent/guardian contact the Counseling Office prior to the withdrawal.

No student, regardless of age, will be withdrawn until parental contact is made.  The student will circulate a withdrawal form among his/her teachers as well as other school personnel on the last full day of attendance.  Each teacher will sign, indicating a current course grade and if any money or property is owed to the school.  No student records will be sent until all financial obligations are cleared.   The completed withdrawal form should be returned to the Counseling Office.

Students withdrawn by the school for non-attendance are expected to return all school property and clear all financial obligations (cash or money order only) before records will be released.

Students withdrawn by the school for non-attendance are expected to return all school property and clear all financial obligations (cash or money order only) before records will be released.

Multiple Tests On The Same Day
Students are not required to take more than three major tests on the same day.  Students should see their administrator at least one day in advance if more than three major tests are scheduled.

Homework Policy
Northview High School is cognizant of the fact that students need time outside of school to become involved in other areas of personal and family life; however, completion of homework is essential for students to be prepared for class discussion and lab assignments.   Parents should expect students to have homework for most classes each day.

Recovery Policy
Opportunities for students to recover from a low/failing cumulative grade will be provided when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements.  Students who have not attempted to complete all course requirements are not eligible for recovery.

Students must contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities at the time his/her grade falls below 74.  Recovery work must be completed within ten school days prior to the end of the semester.  The nature and type of recovery assignment is given at the discretion of the teacher.

Teacher-Parent Conferences
Parents wishing to speak with a teacher should email the teacher directly by visiting www.northviewhigh.com  or call the main office (770-497-3828) and leave a message.  Please allow twenty-four hours for a response. Conferences involving multiple staff members should be arranged through the student’s counselor.
